Bottled. Very deep brown colour with a small beige fluffy head. Aroma is toasted, some caramel, mild salts as well as some slight nutty notes. Flavour is salted liquorice, burnt wet wood, some toasted notes as well as mild grainy and some spicy tones.

Bottle from Beer52. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Smoke obvious from the off with light salt and a little caramel then. Liquorice and blackcurrant follow, then ham, soy sauce, a little gravy and a mild burnt note. Finishes dry and salty. A very interesting brew; I liked the beer, and also liked the obscure Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy references on the bottle.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - opaque brown to black with a nice lacy head. Nose - salt and molasses. General burnt bread notes. Taste - liquorice, salt and more burnt bread. Palate - medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good beer. A bit gnarly but the rewards for taking on the challenge are great.

33cl bottle from Beer52.com. An opaque, peaty black colour with no head, but moderate carbonation; aroma of chocolate malt and some mild smoke; quite lively on the tongue with a bitter taste and a thin, milky, chocolate malt body and some gentle smoke; then a unpleasantly salty aftertaste. I was expecting more body and some caramel to offset the salt, but sadly it’s not there - an interesting idea that doesn’t work for me.
