Brewed only once a year on December 6th, Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, in particular with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself.

Rating 700: Murky brown with almost no head. Aroma is clove, phenols, fresh hoppy citric notes, slight caramel. Sweet caramel, slightly phenolic stuff, bitter chocolate. Heavy oily and not quite easy to drink. Like a too heavy Weizenbock. Version from 2014: Even more phenolic.

330 mml bottle tasted on the 11/12/2016. Reddish amber colour with a minimal white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and sugar. Taste is so sugary and alcoholic that the beer is, in my opinion, not balanced. Sweet finish and aftertaste. Next one please!

Bottle, 4 years old. Aroma is like a port wine, with ripe fruit, raisin, boozy malt and caramel. Heavy sweet taste of thick sweet malt, ripe red fruit, boozy oak and a long warming boozy fruity finish. I like this quad-doppelbock-port stuff.

0.33l bottle. Malty aroma, sweet caramel, alcohol. Clear dark amber color, no head. Taste is sweet with present alcohol tones. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation and sweet alcohol finish. Average.

Semmi hab, vörösbe hajló barna szín. Illata szirupos, aszalt gyümölcsös. Rendkívül édes, szirupos, aszalt gyümölcsös, feketecseresznyés, kissé karamelles ízvilág, hosszú lecsengéssel, benne pici konyakossággal. Nagyon testes, mégis nagyon friss, enyhén szénsavas és közepesen kesernyés. Nagyon finom desszertsör.

Pours a reddish-brown, almost a garnet, from a bottle, quickly dissipating off-white head, no lacing, no retention. Butterscotch, roasted chestnuts and cherry jam in the nose, similar flavor but the butterscotch is deepened into thick caramel, very boozy. Good beer.
