From the kegerator in Ratman’s house - thanks, dude! Dark, opaque, brown color, with a medium, foamy, tan head. The aroma is aggressive and boozy. Notes of black coffee, piney hops, and molasses, with some honey, vanilla, orange peel, and toasted oak. Very sweet and syrupy, with a good, bitter kick, and a lot of boozy warmth. Very heavy body, with a thick, syrupy, and chewy mouthfeel. This is a massive, very complex, and interesting beer.

Bomber a gift from Don when I visited in late September. I’ve been sitting on it hoping to share it with some RBers but needed something special on Christmas so here it goes. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin, and raisins interspersed among the barrel notes and a very light hint of bourbon and tobacco. Murky dark brown with a slight lightly lacing tan head. Flavor is sweet and woody, with dark fruits, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon. Darn Don, you and Adam came up with an exceptional blend, much better than the winemakers blends FW uses for their Anniversary ales. One of the best and most complex ales I have ever had. My son and daughter will end up tasting Danish dreg samples.

I wanted to find a special beer to rate for this milestone, and when I got this opportunity, I couldn’t think of anything much better. Draft pour at Ratman’s beer museum. Huge thanks to Ratman for the huge welcome, and sharing his beer and stories. Pours a muddy brown color with a patchy foam head. Vanilla, caramel smooth flavor. Soooo smooth in flavor, it’s incredible. A damn near perfect blend here. I know it’s a little late, but much congrats to Ratman for his 10,000 milestone. Loved this beer overall. What the hell will you come up with for 15,000? To sum this up, I’ve always said that a lot of how I feel about a beer has to do with the situation that surrounds it. That being said, this was one of my most memorable beers to this day.

On tap @ Avery during the Ratman 10k celebration. Congrats Ratman! Pours a deep brown appearance with a thin tan head. A bit of booze in the nose along with plums, figs, caramel, tart grapes, a little bourbon, and a fair amount of tannins. The body was surprisingly not that big - maybe medium bodied. There was a definitely sourness to the flavor that mixed with chocolate, caramel, coconut, and a bit of bourbon. Quite smooth though the flavors clashed a little bit. Pretty fun to drink and high boost for sure. Uncle Chris and I had two pours of this with the Ratman and both found it interesting and pretty enjoyable.
