Omnipollo Maz (formerly Mazarin) is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival in 2013.
In November 2014 we doubled the hop bill.

The mild Aromas are a little Hops and dry grain and dry grass. Flavors are more bitter than sweet, resin hops with the long bitter finish. Appearance looks like a hazy IPA but doesn't taste that way. A little Citrus in there too. Not my favorite from them. I think the Hops are old.

From tap as Omnipolo Maz at Mi2 at Cardinal 12.11.18. Cloudy pale straw colour. Small white head. Aroma and taste of bitter citrus, lemon zest and lemon grass. Grapefruit bitterness is lingering on.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger (as MAZ). Pours cloudy golden with off-white head. Aroma of pine needles, some bready notes, some citrus. Tastes bitter with little sweetness. Thin to medium bodied, dry mouthfeel, bitter finish.

Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours very hazy, pale gold, with limited white foam. Aroma is weakly tropical, peach, light melon. Body is average with moderate carbonation. Taste is moderately in both. Finish is regular.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, orange colour with a medium-sized and minimally off-white foamy head. Fruity and slightly resiny hops with notes of grapefruit, tangerine, shades of grass and mildly phenolic spice. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft, almost creamy carbonation. Dry malty base with present fruity and slightly resiny hops character; dry and lingering moderately hop bitter finish with a rounded grassy bite. Very pleasant. 29.IX.18

From the bottle. Pale yellowish, hazy, with a frothy white head of modest retention. Mild notes of pine and citrus in the aroma. Taste is bitter throughout, with hints of grapefruit lingering afterwards. Medium body, prickly carbonation. Not bad.
