Omnipollo Maz (formerly Mazarin) is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.

In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival in 2013.

In November 2014 we doubled the hop bill.

Bottle, 0.33l. Thick orange pour, one finger soapy white head, quickly diminishing. Good lacing on the glass. When poured, it looks like an orange juice. Wonderful nose, a true hop-bomb. Clean, fresh, loaded with citrus notes and tropical fruits. Medium body, medium carbonation. Pleasnt and prickly mouthfeel. Somewhat creamy. Loaded with hops, strong but refreshing bitter taste. Feels more like an IPA. Aroma, well, loaded with hops. Passion fruit, mango, orange peel. Subtle caramel malt backbone complementing the hops perfectly. Good herbal character, slight peppery notes on the tongue. Slightly dry. Lingering bitterness throughout the finish. Overall, awesome beer. Clean, crisp, refreshing and perfectly balanced. Simply fantastic.

Schöne Mandarinennase, leicht trüb, fluffiger Schaum. Im Trunk angenehm spritzig, sehr süffig, fruchtig, Mandarinen, mittig leicht bitter, hinten trocken. Astreines Kastenbier.

0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Tasting session with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran in the summer of 2017. Hazy golden, small off-white head. Moderately hoppy - tropical, citrus and light herbs. Very aromatic and bitter. Smooth, light body, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Nice and aromatic, great choice of hops.

TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium hop notes (lime, grapefruit), followed by a soft, slightly sweet and neutral malt background. medium-high bitterness with na almost dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium to medium-high body with a slight velvety texture. medium carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: a very nice pale ale, with a plethora of hop aromas.

Hazy golden color with a fine white head on top. Ok lacing. Looks good. Mellow and fine hoppy aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Balanced sweetness and a nice bitterness. Long tail and a semi dry texture. Grapefruit/citric hoppy, fruity and pine in the flavor. Pleasant and dangerously session able beer.
