Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth but a very fine carbonation providing a trailing nip. A nice mellow floral tang here, not really sour. Great touch of mild lemon. A mild floral fruity thing going on that appears to be whisky derived. It all rides on a smooth malt base. Light orange peel, little fresh orange and mild spice. Finishes smooth with a slight minty coolness. Intriguing and very drinkable.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s. It pours hazy mahogany brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, funky, wood, caramel, barnyard, maple, whisky, spice, brown bread and vanilla. The taste is bitter, earthy, funky, barnyard, spicy, brown bread, varnish, rye, resin, alcohol, light caramel and wood with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. More funky than sour. Works rather well for me.
