Draft at Sloan. Black pour. Aroma of licorice, peach, roasted malt and caramel. Flavor of soft cream, licorice, peach, creamy roasted malt and coffee. Seems like it was on nitro, because of the softness. Nice bipa.

On keg at the Small Bar, Bristol 23/12/2015. Near black in colour, with a decent, beige, head. Toasty malts, some tangerine and dark berry fruits, a whiff of pine and a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Keg at the Fox E8. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is rich roast, stewed orange, candied peel, chocolate covered coffee beans and light grassy/dank action. The taste is bitter, rich roast, orange rind, stewed orange citrus, sherbet, marmalade, earthy roast, coffee, charred wood and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Crisp, bitter and tasty. Grade A black ipa.

Keg at the Fox E8 - London. Pours black-brown with a thick, creamy tan head. Nice roasted malt nose, some burnt biscuits, pine, orange. Medium sweet flavor with bitter baking cocoa, oily torched pine, rindy citrus fruits, dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Great balance on the finish, more baking cocoa, roasty malts, undertones of citrus fruits, burnt pine. Excellent.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and blood orange. Flavour of chocolate, orange peel, pine and roasted malts. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. A decent beer, but it’s not too dissimilar to the Porter, which I tried side-by-side.
