Bacchus Flemish Old Brown surprises with a taste reminiscent of wine and offers a beautiful balance between sweet and sour. This beer impresses through both its sourness and the slight touch of caramel brought by the roasted malt. However, its sourness is less pronounced than the sourness of other Flemish red-brown beers. Therefore, Bacchus Flemish Old Brown is a very refreshing beer with a pleasant aftertaste. A beer full of character and history!

0,375L bottle, BB 07.2014. Pours reddish brown with small head. The head disappears immediately. Aroma is medicinal, sour, malt, herbs, cherries, and berries. Taste follows the nose, but also has some red wine and wood notes. Overall: it’s not bad, but not really my kind of beer.

reddish brown colour, practically no head;aroma of lactic acid, and some yeasty-earthy notes; taste of intensive sourness, and not too much else...maybe some dry white wine-notes, and minimal fruityness

Usual wrapped, cork and caged 37.5cl bottle: opened in De Kuppe, Brugge on 31st Jan 2014. Pours a murky brown with a red hue here and there, the head a thin covering of off-white. Off wine aroma with some sour cherry hints: not as powerful as I expected though, nor as acidic or sour. The taste is tart though, mixed old fruit barrel feel to the flavour, woody, earthy and with an overriding semi-sourness from the fruitiness. A beer I’ve been meaning to try on my last three or four visits to Belgium, glad I made the effort to finally buy one.

Clear deep amber with a short fizzy head. Faint papery cider aroma. Soft sour brown flavor. Quite mild sourness but nice body and balance. An easy Flemish ale to get along with.

Piana malutka a wysycenia praktycznie brak.

Clear red brown colour, beautiful thick off-white head, which unfortunately disappears rather quickly. Aroma of caramel, red fruits, yoghurt, lactic acid, tobacco and woody vanilla notes. Sweet malty flavour, light sour notes, some berries, some kvas. Bit thin. Finish wood, lactic acid, caramel and malts. Not bad, but could use a bit more body. Nonetheless, it’s quite refreshing as is.

Bottle from Vanuxeem. Has an aroma of sour apples & cider. Lively carbonation with sour pears, apples, cherries and juicy plums. Extremely tart and a bit too sour. Not really my kinda thing.

Good Vlaams oud bruin/rood. Very wine-like indeed, with notes of oak and some smooth sourness.
