Bacchus Flemish Old Brown surprises with a taste reminiscent of wine and offers a beautiful balance between sweet and sour. This beer impresses through both its sourness and the slight touch of caramel brought by the roasted malt. However, its sourness is less pronounced than the sourness of other Flemish red-brown beers. Therefore, Bacchus Flemish Old Brown is a very refreshing beer with a pleasant aftertaste. A beer full of character and history!

Bottle. Reddish-brown color, minimal head. Aroma like homemade wine: with hints of vinegar, wet skin, blue plum, a bit of malt and chocolate. Taste: sour, almost vinegary, wine, plums, gooseberry, interesting ale.

The pour is dark brown with some reddish highlights. Head of foam isn’t outrageous but firm and long lasting.
Fruity notes both sweet and tart in the nose. Deep whiffs give me a bit of Brett. At least I think so.
Fruity taste with a mix of sweet and sour. Identifying the fruit is, as usual, a chore for me. Black cherry, green apples. ? The base brown is there as well. But. .Oud Bruin style Ales do put the sour notes up front if they are done right. ..my opinion.
Fairly light bodied with light carbonation, I find no fault with the mouthfeel.
A very nice brew and I like having that little pull tab to help get to the cap. I will get more.

At a tasting, many thanks, very cloudy lightish brown color with some rusty hues, aroma of sour fruits, mainly cherries with touches of vanila, metal and sour bread, flavor of plums, nectarine and some cherries. lingering fruity sourness. Really good and very easy to drink.

375 ml. bottle poured in to a Snifter. Dark brown colour with a reddish tinge. Thin, lightly tanned head. Slightly sour aroma with cherries, wood, caramel malts, a bit dusty, citric notes and tart fruits. Taste is lightly sour. Light to medium body with a thinner to creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and lightly sour with cherries, wood and caramel malts. This Oud Bruin is one of the thinner ones I had. No wonder - this has a whopping 4.5 % alcohol. Lacks a bit of the superior complexity and sourness that other Oud Bruins has.

Dark brown, no visible CO2. Huge tan head. Smells of honey, caramel, cider, yeast, cola gummy, a hint of chocolate. Very dry and sour, well balanced. No bitterness at all. Long finish with tinges of blackberry. Very nice.

Brown color with a minimal and quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma has notes of dry fruits, toasted malts, slightly caramel, some wooden notes as well. Flavor is very slightly sourish with light sweetness. Light final with some sweetness in the aftertaste and a slightly sourness.

(Bottle, Delirium Café, Brussels, 26 Oct 2014) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, oak wood, dark bread and a slight acidity. Malty, slightly vinous nose with caramel, dark fruit, oak wood and a gentle acidity in fairly dry finish. Light to medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced with a light acidity, possibly a bit on the thin side. Quite nice.
