Bacchus Flemish Old Brown surprises with a taste reminiscent of wine and offers a beautiful balance between sweet and sour. This beer impresses through both its sourness and the slight touch of caramel brought by the roasted malt. However, its sourness is less pronounced than the sourness of other Flemish red-brown beers. Therefore, Bacchus Flemish Old Brown is a very refreshing beer with a pleasant aftertaste. A beer full of character and history!

Bottle/Fest. A- Cherry. A- Brown color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Cherry, tart. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- A bit artificial tasting and honestly for the style and country of origin I expect a lot better.

0.375l bottle. Clear dark ruby body, thin off-white head. Aroma of cherries, dark sugar, balsamic vinegar and berries. Taste of sour cherries, apple, vinegar, sherry and dark sugar. Quite light bodied and effervescent. OK beer, but I really think oud bruin is not my favorite style.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Deep mahogany with beige head. Stale red wine, sherry, a bit mineral, cardboard, overripe red fruits, some chalk, old rotten wood. Light sweet and sour, dry light bitter finish. Medium bodied with low but fizzy carbonation and dry feel. Disappointing.

Bottle from Cambridge Blue. Mid brown with little carbonation and a small off-white head. Light smell of vinegar, cherry and cola nut. Slight sour taste. Not much personality or flavour but it’s pleasant. The well-carbonated palate is truly lively, as is the gently fruity soy aftertaste. Not the best Oud Bruin but it grows on me.

Bottle at Winking Lizard. The beer pours a ruby-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of tart berries, yeast and bready malt. The finish is moderately tart with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle at Brežiški Festival Piva. Pours a light brown color, chestnutty undertone, topped with a medium small tan colored head. Mild grape aroma, soury feel to it. Taste is exactly what the aroma narrates. Soury with fruits and grapes. Quite decent sourness but the good kinds. Very nice.

Deep ruby to brown colour, one finger thick rocky head. Aroma of dry & sour fruit, phenols, leather. Light body. Oily texture. Medium sour taste with fruity & yeasty profile. Low bitterness. I don’t think I’d drink it regularly but it was a nice one time experience.
