Brewed at Adnams in Southwold. A dark, roasty porter porter with hints of coffee and chocolate along with a satisfying citrus, hoppy edge.

Dark brown, bit hazy, beige head, good lacing
Aroma of dark malts, slight smoke, some citrus hop in there
Taste of dark malts, odd harsh edge, some dirt, bitter hops, slight rust, no this isn’t good at all
Palate - Medium body, fairly bitter. Finish as main flavour, quite bitter.
Overall - Rather rough. Disappointing. Rare miss for Adnams.

A brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light nutty notes, grassy hops, light vinous notes. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light burned caramel malt, treacle, light licorice and butterscotch, pleasant. On tap at Winter’s grind February 2015.

Cask at The Pennsylvanian (W’Spoons), Rickmansworth, Herts. A dark ruby brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Roasty, dark fruit aroma. Tastes slightly roasty, dark berry fruit with a hint of coffee.

Cask-conditioned at the Robert Fitzharding (JDW), Bedminster, 8/1/2015. Dark brown, with a thin, off-white, head. Fruity, with berry fruits and orange peel, some roasted malts and a boozy, drying finish. Good.

Cask at the Knights Templar, 06/01/15. Very dark chestnut brown with a decent tan covering. Nose is earthy cocoa, dusty hop tones, red berry fruit, liqourice, faint charr. Taste comprises toffee, sweet tones, more red berry, fruit loaf, raisens, brown sugar. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with light earthy roast. Ok porter.
