Brewed at Adnams in Southwold. A dark, roasty porter porter with hints of coffee and chocolate along with a satisfying citrus, hoppy edge.

Cask at The George, Croydon. It pours dark ruby-brown with a decent beige head. The nose is roasty, dark fruits, berry, jam, coffee and cocoa. The taste is rather bitter, roasted malts, earthy, cocoa, coffee, wood, mild acidity and light alcohol with lingering dry roast Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty punchy stuff. Rather decent.

Cask @ White Hart, Todmorden. Dark clear brown with a small frothy head. Very light in its roasted malts, with a similarly light hop evident here too that contains a small fruitiness alongside the hint of chocolate. Strange but works, quite smooth tasting too.

On cask at the William Stead. Appearance - a clear dark brown with a red orange glow all through it. Looks great. Nose - toffee and spiced biscuit. Going into liquorice. Loads of roast. Taste - dry salty liquorice. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry crunchy middle texture and a long dry finish. Overall - interesting but quite gnarly.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Chestnut brown woth a large beige head. Lovely smooth foamy mouthfeel. Chocolate and creamy coffee up front, a little oakiness and some boozy whiskyish notes, then a lightly roasted malt to finish. The mouthfeel, coffee notes and booziness make me think of a cappuccino with a shot of whisky in it. But the aftertaste is Ovaltine. Pleasant stuff; possibly just a little better than the weaker "Importer" that seems to have been released concurrently. Another winning Adnams collab.

Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. dark brown, tight beige head. Bouquet is piney and malty with a hint of garden flower. Taste is bittersweet, the perfect balance of coffee-tinged malt and citrussy hop. Slightly more hop on the grainy finish. I like it more and more over the course of the pint. Superb.
