Creating a tipple for the demanding palate of Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen University’s Archchancellor, was never going to be easy.
When you’re dealing with a man who’s quick to grab a crossbow, the beer has to be perfect first time and every time. Thank the gods that the brewery was able to call upon the talented student brewers to create the perfect pint for quaffing after a busy day frustrating the Bursar.
Ridcully’s Revenge is a full strength mahogany coloured beer, which has a moreishness typical of a beer possessing the fine balance of pronounced hop bitterness & aroma against a natural malty sweetness, creating a deceivingly drinkable beer.

Bottle from Alec (cheers Alec) consumed Wednesday 12th October 2016 in the company of Lynn and Barry Pours grubby brown with a filmy off white head. This way a lively pour, lost about a third over the table. Middling bitterness, some light caramel touches, a little sweetness, it’s ok, it’s a fairly standard bitter. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Bottle from Alesbymail. Hazy dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity and light hoppy - flowers. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. A bit fizzy. 041016

Bottled. Hazy brownish amber colour, no head and very little carbonation. Aroma is toffee, some berries, and floral notes. Flavour is berries, some buscuity and toffeeish notes along with some herbs.

Bottle, gift from Jim- cheers! Brown with a thin off-white head. A lot of sediment in the bottle, and with a 330ml bottle it’s difficult to stop some of it going in the glass. Smell and taste are almost entirely malt- maybe just a little caramel but mainly malt. Virtually no hop presence at all. That’s OK- I like a nice malty bitter. But this one really is just a little too one-dimensional maybe. Nonetheless it’s a pleasant enough easy drinker, if a little too forgettable and certainly too lumpy at the bottom.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours clear brown with no real head. Aromas of not much, caramel I guess. Taste is sweet toffee. Bah.
