This new black porter has been brewed exclusively for a Wetherspoon real-ale festival. It has a strong malty aroma, leading to a rich flavour, enhanced by subtle chocolate undertones and leading to a long, nutty finish

Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark brown, barely translucent. About 3mm of off-white head. Muted aroma of chocolate malt, wet cedar, earth, hints of plum and smoke. Initial robust sweetness in the taste holds sway until the chalky and intensely sour-bitter finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Light mouthfeel. Very decent.
