On tap at Wynkoop, pours a deep dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt and some harsh resinous hop oils. Flavour is along the same lines but better, with resinous hop oils and toasted caramel malt. Malty body, yet finishes hoppy and bitter. Nice stuff.

Draft at the brewpub, 11/21/15. Thought this was a pretty nice one. Reddish-copper in color. Nice fruit hop and caramel malts aroma and flavors. Good hop bitterness with some nice malts. Medium body. Drinks pretty nicely. Good beer overall.

Can. A- Caramel, subtle pine, malty. A- Dark amber red color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, pine, herbs, malty, slightly bitter. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- I’d guess this is about as big of a beer as I’ve had from a can yet. I was pleased with the heaps of caramel I got on the nose and even in the taste. And a good caramel, not the burnt caramel kind. The pine and bitterness crept in as it warmed.

On tap at Wynkoop. Pours a cloudy dark amber with medium off white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is pine hop and resin. Medium mouthfeel with bitter hop and sweet fruit. Good

Can - amber ale? - why isn’t this listed as an american strong ale? - anyway, pours a moderately hazy dark red - frothy, well-sustained head - nose is mostly a potent mix of hops - resinous, citric, piney, fruity, peppery - some sticky malt sweetness underneath - more pleasant than I am making it sound - soft carbonation, full body - simple flavor - mostly just sticky caramel maltiness, followed by potent peppery and woody hops with a light bit of alcohol in the finish - it does what it sets out to do, I guess - okay.

Draught at Wynkoop, October 2012, GABF week. A very god amber ale. Sweet with fresh hops, so full of hop flavor I am thinking this might be a wet hopped beer. Some brown sugar and sweet malt for balance. Full-flavored. A good beer.
