Our extensive hop store was raided and a blend of Bramling Cross, Pioneer and Phoenix was selected. The beer received a heavy dry hopping of Phoenix on the end to make sure it was packed with great flavour from those all British hops. With so much Phoenix hops going in it seemed logical to call this beer From The Ashes.

Cask at the CP&K, Pimlico, 30/05/14. Clear golden with a well appointed off white covering that dissipates then hangs out with you - the drinker. Nose is toffee, biscuit malt, orchard fruit, floral notes, straw. Taste comprises bread dough, biscuit, light floral hops, orange, grass. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Ok cask offering but not an APA, not enough hop presence - the clue is above ’British hops’!!! More a golden bitter for me at 4%.

Cask at CP&K. It pours clear golden amber with a medium white head. The nose is soft tangerine, berry, light florals and some dough. The taste is crisp, bitter, floral, light berry, straw, potpourri and toasted grain with a lingering bitter-dry finish. Medium carbonation and fine carbonation. A quality hoppy pale.

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Pours hazy golden brown, small white head. Light dusty grains and toffee aromas. Taste has a light floral hop bite, light sweetness. Slightly sticky finish. OK.
