As bold as the name suggests but as friendly as the masked man, comes our first adventure into the world of cans. This IPA is full of citrus and pine hop character and aroma. The hop flavors play off the pleasant malt complexity like a good sidekick. Giddy-up.

Pours a clear orange color with a medium fluffy white head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma of herbal hops and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of grassy hops, caramel malt and overripe fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a short fruity hops aftertaste. Just average overall.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a bright orange-amber color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy pine, pineapple, honey and a touch of maltiness. The flavor was sweet yet bitter with pine, vague fruity hops and touches of pineapple, bread and caramel. Medium length bitter pine, fruit and bread finish. Moderately full bodied. Decent.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber orange with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a strong citrus note with a touch of resin and a slight grain backbone. Flavor has lots of orange citrus with a hint of pine and resin with a hay/grass backing.

Nice piney aroma and taste, orange/amber color, thin silky head, some sticky lacing. Astringent finish, semi-dry. Still finding my way with the IPA style, and I like this. Drinkable, not overpowering, pleasant aftertaste.

Deep Orange Color, Medium Head Leaves Spotty Lacing. Pine Aroma. Pine up front, hoppy bitter to finish, malty in between. At the end light fizzy carbonation tingling your tongue, smooth medium body. Sweet, just enough bitter, easy to drink. Just like in Hollywood, some Outlaws are good. So IS this one.

On tap at the brewery during a media event. Again, impression may be different than when it comes in cans. Body is darker than the Sidekick I just had. The nose is not as pronounced either, just a bit of fruity hop. More conflict here between the hops and malts, too. Both are in the forefront, seeming like an all-barley battle against an IPA level hop load. Definitely some Pacific region hops involved. No particular hop predominates, just a pronounced aftertaste.

Can: 60 IBU, 6.3% Pours cloudy dark amber with a thick tan head. Aroma is caramel, bread heel, fruit. Malty, caramel, citrus peel flavours. Sweet, but a fairly decent bittering towards the end. Not bad.

On cask. Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is decently hopped with some notes of caramel. Flavor is ever better. A big mango fruityness with just caramel malt to give this some body. I thought this was a damn fine Ipa. Maybe the cask version trumps the can.
