The alluring golden colour and zesty, floral aroma make McEwan’s Amber an easy drink to appreciate. Hold it up to the light and watch the rich, golden tones settle. The taste lives up to all expectations – dry and refreshing with strong citrus notes. McEwan’s Amber is an ale to be enjoyed on all occasions. The gold standard in refreshment.

Bottle 50 cl. Golden color with average white foam. Aroma: malt, a little fruit, corn, diacetyl. Taste: malt, a bit hops, a little fruit, yellow plums and fruit esters. Sad, comrades.

Bottle. Clear golden, moderate off-white head. Low retention. Faint aroma of caramel & spicy hop. Light body. Thin to oily texture. The flavour is bittersweet. Sweet malts, bisquit, English hop bitterness well detectable but suffered a bit on keeping (the bottle is not that fresh). The ending is quite short. Light grassy bitter on aftertaste. OK

On cask at the Grosvenor. Appearance - cloudy amber with a decent head. Nose - faint butter and dry malt. Taste - bread and caramel. Astringent malt finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture but a very astringent finish. Overall - you get used to it and it improves in that way anyway.

Cask. Smooth, fresh, sweetish start. Golden smooth and fresh. For me a bit too sweetish. But nice. Malty with a slightly bitter sweetish aftertaste.

Clear bottle, never a good start. Golden body with a thin, off-white head. Low carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of... nothing, really. Weak hints of paper and lemon. Flavour of lemon, watered down malt and sweetcorn. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Lacking in pretty much all departments. It’s like beer without aroma or flavour - completely devoid of charm.

Bottle from Tesco. Clear bottle so unsurprisingly skunky. The texture is not bad, light and drinkable. Some fruit evident.
