(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm, 11 June 2014) Black colour with brief, creamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, burnt sugar, raisins and hints of whisky. Roasted, malty taste with dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, peat, hints of whisky and a generous coffee bitterness in a finish with some sweetness coming through. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Nice one.

On keg at Holyrood 9A Appearance - opaque black with crema head. Nose - some roast but mostly of a boozey Christmas cake. Raisins in brandy. Taste - dark chocolate with prunes in alcohol. Black Forest gateau. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish considering the richness. Overall - great beer. Shouldn’t this be classified as Imperial. Perhaps also as much Porter as Stout.
