Brewed for Wetherspoon 2013 Spring Real Ale Festival.

This new beer is a delightful coming-together of old and new, brewed using the malts you’d expect in a traditional brown ale, yet with American varieties of hops adding a contemporary flavour twist.

Cask at the Willow Walk, Victoria, 04/04/13. Very lightly hazed chestnut brown with a thin tan/beige head that dissipates edgeward and ultimately forming a light swirl atop the glass. Nose is dark malt, light hoppage, caramel. Taste comprises caramel, biscuit, hoppy twang, touch of tropical fruit in the background. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dryish finish with a touch of hop bitterness. Pleasently surprised by this one, a decent enough lightly hopped brown ale.

Clear dark ruby red ale with a good head. Has a fruity nose but a fruitier taste.

Cask at the Bear (JDW), Maidenhead. Amber with a tight cream head - not the look I associate with a brown ale; malty aroma; soft in the mouth with a light malty taste, and some tangy. piney hops; and a lasting bitterness to finish. Good stuff.
