Last Snow Coconut & Coffee Porter is an ode to that special time in Florida where the needle dips just south of 75 - even for the briefest of moments. This rich, creamy porter is layered with coconut and freshly-roasted coffee for a taste that recalls a winter wonderland - even if, in our state, that's just a state of mind.

12 oz. can, 6.4% ABV, Best by: FEB 2023

AROMA: First hit with strong scent of coconut and then wisps of chocolate and coffee followed. The coconut aroma overpowers just about everything else, and is a little odd as it does not smell like fresh coconut. Instead, it smells more like coconut oil. Which I find to be a little off-putting because it reminds me more of suntan lotion than something to ingest.

APPEARANCE: It pours an opaque black with a tall, dark-tan, foamy head that dissipates slowly with excellent lacing. This is one delicious looking beer!!

TASTE: Initially it is moderately sweet with flavors of coffee and chocolate hitting first, followed by the coconut. On the back end, the bitterness of the coffee starts to come through and then there is more coconut sweetness that fades away ever so slowly. The flavors of coconut, chocolate, and coffee are much more evenly balanced than their aromas would hint at.

MOUTHFEEL: Full-bodied with a smooth and creamy texture, and average carbonation. This is a luxurious feeling beer!

OVERALL: Other than my slight dislike of the coconut aroma, I can find little fault with this beer. It has a heavenly body, nice flavor, and looks fantastic in a clear glass!

12 oz. can from Total Wine-Viera. Pours a dark brown color and mahogany highlights with a thick creamy light tan head and great retention. Spotty lacing. Very coffee-forward aroma. The taste matches the nose. Dark roasted coffee and creamer flavors dominate. Any other flavors are drowned out. Thick mouthfeel and low carbonation combine for a creamy texture. If you like coffee this would be really good; I dont.

Maybe my best coconut beer yet. No overly roastedness, no nasty bitterness, just pure coconut, coffee, chocolate beer. I can finally say it: liquid bounty. Dipped in coffee. Glad to know it's possible to make coconut beers this good.

Sample at Grateful Brew. Brown-black color with a medium thick beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Coconut, chocolate malt and coffee in the nose. Medium body with flavors of fudge, coconut, roast coffee and malt. The finish is sweet with a toasty coconut coffee aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Pitch black coloured body with a rich, super dense light brown head about three centimetres that leaves a very nice lace, but the black tint is fully opaque - very nice looking. Aroma of ridiculous amounts of coconuts, roasted malt, anise, oatmeal, lactose, cream, light fruits and a touch of alcohol - this stuff smells amazing, with a hint of vanilla noticeable as well. Full-bodied; Rich full flavour of coconuts, hazlenuts, earth, grain, vanilla, oak and a good deal of oatmeal and heavy roasted maltiness along with a good deal of anise and pure lactose and cream-based sweetness with a little dose of alcohol, but this is very nice and incredibly robust throughout. Aftertaste shows a great amalgamation of flavours with the coconut the strongest along with some vanilla and oakiness and a touch of the oatmeal and full roasted malt coupled with some peanuts and alcohol on the end. Overall, this one is simply amazing. The nuttiness, the full-bodied profile and the sheer amount of flavours make this seem more of an imperial stout more than a simple porter or even a sweet stout, but the alcohol is well tempered and the profile and complexity are great, especially for the style, but no matter which way you slice this, it's great! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah, Georgia (Abercorn Street) on 04-May-2018 for US$3,38, which I thought was a lot at the time, sampled in my hotel room here in Atlanta, Georgia (BACK in this state for the second time this month!) on 26-May-2018 just more than three weeks after buying it!

It's OK, but I really don't get the hype. The base beer does seem like an excellent porter - I'm curious if they have this base beer as regular old porter, cuz I'd like to try it if so. Coconut is true to aroma and flavor, blends in well, with weaker chocolate, and coffee weaker still. Good body, a nice light to medium mouthfeel, semi-sweet finish and low bitterness. Still coconut in beer isn't quite my thing, and though this may be the best example of it, I'm still not loving it.
