Cask at Babington Arms, Derby. Pours a deep ruby red with minimal off-white head. Aroma is rather nutty – brazil nuts ? In the mouth it is sweet and slightly watery, but compensates for this with plenty of flavour. Milky chocolate and autumn fruits at first, but later the chocolate turns dark There are malts and raisins as well. Finish is rather fruity. Not wildly exciting, but decidedly quaffable !

Dark brown with a semi-creamy off-white head and a subtle dark fruit and malt aroma. Light bodied, much thinner than expected, it’s a little like liquid malt loaf with a slight tingle of bitterness

17/7/2020. Cask at the Greyhound, Ipswich. Pours very dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits, prune, raisin, malt, chocolate, slightly smoked and touch of Pernod. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Started well, dropped off a little. Wasps liked it.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Dark, ruddy brown with a decent, off-white head. Spices, tobacco and roasted malts, slightly out of place milk chocolate and a moderately bitter finish. So so.

From cask at The Hengler’s Circus. Pours clear and golden deep brown with a small off white head. Aroma is toasted malty, breadish and roasted. Light herbal, breadish to light sweet caramelish. Toasted and lingering caramelish together with a good bitterness to counterbalance. Dry and bitter, malty finish.

Cask at The Greyhound (JDW), Maidenhead. An amazing colour - raspberry red when held up to the fire, otherwise magohany with a ring of white head; earthy malt aroma; rather thin and sweet in the mouth with a soft, berry fruit flavour; and some dry chocolatey malts to finish. Needs a bit more weight.
