Cask at the bricklayers arms, Putney. It pours near black, with a thin beige head. The nose is roasted malt, rich coffee, leather, burnt tire, cherry, blackcurrant and plum. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, coffee, burnt toast, salted liquorice, bitter chocolate, plum, prune and blackcurrant, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Robust, smooth and flavoursome.

Cask, handpump from The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks 5th July 2012 Pours black, pitch black with creamy beige head. Roasty aroma and the taste is also roasty with a burntness and dry edge. Bitter & roasty, I like this because of the lack of sweetness, one of the very best yet from Aylesbury Brewhouse. Good temperature, great nick, good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9
