Keg at Holyrood 9a and red squirrel. Pours dark amber, an excellent balance of dry, peaty smoke and sweet, sticky pine. A shame those bottles never appeared.

Keg (as Alba 23) at BrewDog Shoreditch. It pours hazy deep red-brown with pretty much no head. The nose is pine, vinous, plum skin, sweet berry, burnt jam, light tartness, iodine and leather. The taste is dark fruit, plum, red grape, raisin, jam, candy, light earth, leather and alcohol with a dry, warming finish. Medium-full body, low carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Interesting. Drinks pretty smooth. Nice to see Williams Bro’s experimenting a bit more.
