Deep brown in colour (about 75% opaque) with a smallish tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and some lighter pit fruits. Light to Medium-bodied; Tastes of raisins, molasses, soy sauce are noticeable. Aftertaste shows some darker and roastier flavours. Overall, a decent beer for being Chinese and being 20 some cents, but the beer was still light for the style. I sampled this 33 cL can purchased from SciTech Plaza on 12-March-2005 in the Hotel New Otani Chang Fu Gong in Beijing, PRC.

Actually one of the better Chinese beer, but easy to be to overwhelming after a week with only terrible Chinese multinational lagers. Light roasted, sweet malty with a little touch of chocolate and coffee. Quite similar to commercial German Schwarzbier. A nice treat for a hot summer in Beijing.
