A strong, silky smooth imperial stout with a deep, dark ruby appearance. Mocha, bitter chocolate, liquorice and dark cherry flavours prevail, before the balanced, warming and encapsulating finish.

A contemporary Scottish take on an age old Russian classic style originally brewed for the Tsars. Our interpretation brings together hops from both sides of the Atlantic, amazing flavoured malts and dark sugars.

Like the original BrewDog, this beer would never bite you but would much rather give you a lick on the face. Look Out!

Serving Suggestion: Enjoy with an air of aristocratic nonchalance

Pours black, hints of ruby at the base. Creamy beige head of one finger. Aromas of creamy chocolate, roastiness, hint of liquorice, little bit of hops. Taste is dry roasty bitterness, chocolate, cocoa powder, hints of espresso, a bit of dark fruit, almost like a foreign stout. Lots of roasty, burnt bitterness in the finish. Very, very good.

4/I/14 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 21/II/13 (oops!) (2014-14)

Clear dark brown to black beer, big aery irregular beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of chocolate, grains, some caramel, bit sweet. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: little sour, mocha, coffee, red forest fruits, caramel. Aftertaste: mocha, coffee, little sweet, caramel, grains, sour touch, more sweetness. Not bad, but I was expecting more of this one...

Bottle @ home. 660mL Old World Russian Imperial Stout (8.2% abv). Not really sure where I got this, but I think I’ve had it for a couple of years. Pours a deep brown appearance with a big thick dark brown head. Carbonation is very heavy. Somewhat spicy/peaty, dark roasted chocolate malty, burnt, slightly herbal aroma. Very, very roasty flavor with lots of chocolate, a touch of anise, and some slightly herbal bitter hoppy notes. Kind of a fun beer but the carbonation sure is high.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff okt-13: man må bare overse deres selvgode ordgyterier på etiketten når ølet smaker så fortreffelig. En meget god imp.stout på alle måter. Drikker gjerne denne igjen!

Bottle @ home Pours very dark brown , lightgrey head Not so much smell , in my opinion . Perhaps to cold ? Low carbo . Roasted malts , some chocolate notes , some coffee , aftertadte is very roasted malts- based . Too wattery for my taste , but theres nothing wrong with the taste . Just think that some of their own beers ( dead pony club ) have at least as much taste ( even being a diffrent genre ) so for 8 this feels way to weak and wattery
