A dark, intruiging traditional porter style beer. The brew delivers full flavours of malty coffee overtones and blackberries, followed by a slightly sweet, fruity hop finish

From old tasting notes. Lovely deep mahogany brown color. Rocky tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Sweetish molasses-like malt flavor with a spicy nuance. There is an earthy to this brew the defies description. Also, an underlying roasted character that stays right to the finish. Long cloying bitter aftertaste. A wonder Porter that rivals the great Sam Sith Taddy Porter. Superb.

Cask at the London Drinker. Some dusty roast in the nose. Light sweet flavor, moderate roast, faint earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild roasty dark malt finish, some bittersweet cocoa. It’s pretty average.

Cask-conditioned at the Highbury Vaults, Bristol 18/02/2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits and roasted malts with a touch of caramel sweetness. Flavour had plenty more roastiness with some sweet fruit and gently bitter finish. Good.

Cask handpull at Lifeboat Folkestone. First time in this pub and a winner straight off. Youngs London POrter. Good condition. Really good choc touch of burntness. Touch of cigarette smoke. Good malts on finish. Touch of sting on finish. I thought lovely. Good fullness. Impressive. Probably liked it more for being a winner in such a dive of a pub.
