No other Norwegian beer has won more international prizes than our Porter. We always include it in our tastings and it has turned many a ”lager lover” on to craft beer. It has a silky smooth mouthfeel with hints of coffee and chocholate. Good with classic stews, but mindblowing with dark chocolate!

Tap at Trion. Dark fruit, roasty malt, coffee, and light alcohol (as it warmed) aroma. Black brown with a large tan head, thick creamy lacing. Earthy/peaty smoky malt and coffee flavor. Medium creamy body.

500ml bottle. Clear darkest brown with huge, firm, frothy to creamy, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma with an herbal touch, liquorice, dark, blue berries. Taste is initially roasty dark malty, minimally smokey, later minimally sweet fruity notes of dark berries shine through; dry to bitter overtones of fruit parings and a touch of leather.

Drank at home (Dec ’11) and pours very dark brown to black, but not a ’full’ black, whilst an average head remained throughout drinking dying off towards the end. Smooth feel on the mouth when imbibing with a medium sweet, toffee, roasted, only a slight hint of coffee taste Very pleasant aftertaste, slightly malty and slightly less sweet than the initial taste.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a thick, but quickly receding head. Aroma is tar and liquorice, with notes of coffee. Flavour is heavy, roasted malt, with coffee, liquorice and a nice burned bitter balance. Lots of carbonation. Nice bitter finish, that is disappointingly short lasting.

Refrigerated 0.5 L bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with small dark brown highlight and medium size fluffy head. Thick small bubble lacing, creamy body, medium carbonation, smooth texture, and sweet roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted malt, some chocolate, some lactose, little salty, and light bitter hop finish. Good porter, alcohol is pretty well covered, may be closer to a baltic porter in taste.

Bottle at Parkteateret, Oslo. Pours pretty black with a reddish hue and a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt with some chocolate and coffee. Quite nice. Not much sweetness, but some alcohol is noticable. Slightly bitter finish.

BLACK colour with a beige head. Moderate sweet and a some roasted malt aroma. Massive and also a moderate flavour. Lots of raosted malt. Chocolate, caramel and espresso flavour.
I had a beer tasting with 20 different Nøgne Ø bottles lately. Even the girls rated this one as the best. A great allrounder for everyone. Heavy but not overkill.
