On tap at the ChurchKey, DC. A rich, dark amber beer with an off-white head. A lovely sharp and fresh nose with various fruits, some booze and biscuit malt. There are a range of sweet, fruity and roasted elements here, all in a great blend. Caramel, ripe berries, orange, lemon, biscuity malt and tropical fruit work well together. The body is rich and dense. Nicely discernible but well blended tastes. Everything you could ask for in a big Euro BW.

very nice dark ruby pour, and a nice white head. Aroma is loaded with nice subtle hops, and an amazing aroma of caramel malts. There is some subtle sherry tones, and some sweet ripe fruit. As it warms the alcohol comes through, but its welcome, and nice. The flavour so smooth, and sweet, lots of nice caramel malt, really a nice barley wine, one of my favorites for the style.

Aroma of malts, caramel, strong toffee, candy sugar, ripe fruits. Flavour is massive sugary sweetness, alcohol, with a hint of bitterness. Quite sticky. I found the sweetness a bit much, but enjoyed the depth and complexity of the aroma.

26 October 2019. At Struise Shop, Bruges. Shared with Anke, cheers to Bart! Pours clear golden with a lasting, very small, foamy, white head. Aroma of Cointreau, canned peach, pineapple, white bread, plum, orange peel. Taste is heavy malty sweet, thick canned & candied peach, apricot, mandarin, soft bitter orange peel on doughy maltiness, some residual white sugar. Fruity, sweet finish, soft earthy hops, lingering candied fruit & warming Cointreau-like alcohol. Full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Over the top sweetness galore but still quite elegant actually.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Amber cloudy colour with thin golden head. Aroma is lots of booze, spirit like, lots of sweetness too, and some malt. Taste is sweet and boozy, some caramel and lots of sugar, slightly creamy, bit of treacle. Very full bodied and not much carbonation. Slow fading sweet finish. Really nice, but dangerous. --- Beer merged from original tick of Big Worse Barley Wine on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Corked bottle. Reddish brown color. Malty aroma with flowery hops and a hint of raspberry. Malty sweet, alcoholic flavor with muscat grapes and flowery hops. Earthy hoppy aftertaste with butterscotch. Well made barley wine, not without complexity.

375ml bottle at Alex's. Vintage 2010. Aroma is oxidized with lots of sweetness and caramel. It is totally flat with toffee and some tannins. It is too old already.
