Historically the term used to describe a porter blended from a variety of ales, entire butt uses 14 different malts and 3 hops to recreate this forgotten style of porter. The beer is black/brown with a crisp white head and is distinctly vinuous. It has little hop character as essentially the flavour is derived from the malts. Malts used: pale Maris Otter, lager, wheat, pale crystal, dark crystal, dark chocolate, pale chocolate, black, roasted barley, caramalt, torrified wheat, amber malt, brown malt and malted oats.

The sampler, brooklyn bottle: pour blackish with a beige head. Aroma is lihhtly roasted malt with hints of chocolate and more malt and more. Taste is, as others noted, all over the place. Not really roasty. Not really chocolatey. Not really coffee. Not really fruity. Kind of minerally. Not bad.

Bottle from one of the supermarkets. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, red berry fruit, creamy caramel. The flavour is medium bitter with a light malt hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

500ml bottle, 4.5 % abv, thanks to Finn for sharing. Tightly packed fawn-coloured head with fair retention. Clear rosewood coloured body. Attractive taste of bacon and dark malts. Chocolate malts to the fore of the taste profile with hints of bacon. Mid-dry, malt bitterness to the ending. Medium bodied. Decent version of the style (at Finns, Tromsø 27.05.2014).

Flaske 0,5l fra Kilpishalli. Delt med Rune under rateseanse på Nerstranda 27 Mai 14. Ekstremt mørk amber. Lavt, litt farget skum. OK lacing. God aroma & smak av bacon, røyk & røstet malt. Veldig bra ut fra styrken.
