To celebrate the 50th birthday of Wassenaar's most famous inhabitant, King Willem-Alexander, we produced a tasty orange coloured pilsner. Using Czech yeast and 5.0 grams of Kazbek hops per litre, we created a fruity bottom-fermented beer. During boiling and fermentation we used the peel of oranges as an extra twist. The orange peel added a surprising bitterness, but at the same time a wonderful aroma.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is bready malt, mild caramel, spicy hops with a herbal touch, citrussy notes with bitter orange peel and curaçao. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium. Enjoyable and interesting beer, has the colour and maltiness of a Vienna Lager with a pleasant spicy hoppy touch and some nice citrus peel.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy amber colored brew with an dry bitter taste, hints of oranges, citrus and caramel. But an Czech Pilsner (Světlý)??, this one could be everything but that.

Fles gedeeld met Roelzie1986. Het is een oranje bruin bier, wat troebel. Veel schuim en veel koolzuur. De geur is hoppig en sinasappel. De smaak bitter, hoppig, vol met tonen van sinaasappel.

Bottle @ home. Clear dark orange color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweet, herbal, perfumy, weird kind of old applepeel hint. Not very nice. Decent body, decent to medium carbonation. Don’t like it.

dark copper pour, clear, with an off-white head. Notes of orange peel, citrus, light caramel, bitter hops, some flowery aromas but mostly generic hop bitterness as well as a bit of metal. --- Beer merged from original tick of Willem V.0 on 27 Apr 2017 at 21:44 - Score: 6

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Massive thanks, just what I needed. Slightly hazy tea brown amber with thin greyish head. Very rich bittersweet caramelized orangepeel with bready, and soapy, plasticcy, doughy, rosemary, herbalness, weird yeastiness. Moderate sweet and quite bitter. Medium oily slick malty body. Aroma starts ok but the off tastes are more complex than the good tastes. Not a fan. --- Beer merged from original tick of Willem V.0 on 09 Jan 2018 at 13:07 - Score: 5

Bottle shared. Almost clear brown with small beige head. Quite flowery, soap, toilet cleaner, light caramel malts, herbs, orange peel, tea, old wood, bitter grassy notes. It’s surprisingly flowery, and I don’t get much malt character. Light sweet and medium bitter. Just medium bodied with slick feel. It’s not as bad as some Crooked Spider beers, but it’s way too flowery for me again.
