Can, as Ceres Dortmunder. A dense, two-finger off-white head forms over a clear, golden body. The aroma is pretty fruity, with grains and corn, and some notes of alcohol. It’s sweet on the palate, lightly warming, and with a nice carbonation level. The flavor has a quite pleasant bitterness, with corn, white sugar and some fruityness. The finish lasts for some time, with pale malts, corn and some grassy hops. A little bitterness and warmth too. Certainly not a winner in my book. 140111

Can, as Ceres Dortmunder. Pours clear golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of skunk with metallic touches. Sweet taste of yeast and malt, with bitter notes of alcohol and metallic overtones. Skunky and metallic finish. This beer is basically a big, fat, f***in’ fake. Why is it called Dortmunder? Is the less than very careful buyer thought to believe that they are holding a can of Dortmunder, or perhaps Altbier, in their hand? (If so, then look immediately below; the ABV is stated there.) And how much luxury is there about Strong Pale Lager? (It says "Danish Luxury Beer" below the name of the beer). Clearly, this thingy simply yearns to be something it is not and never will be: decent beer. Absolutely disgusting.

Appearance: Clear golden color with a small white head. Some lacing.
Aroma: Mild caramel malty and mild fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Tad sweet and a mild bitterness. Soft carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Round mild sweet caramel malty and mild fruity.
Overall impression: Unusual ok strong lager. Not the usual disturbing alco notes.
Personal stats: Bottle (Ceres Strong Ale) at a pizza restaurant at Fontena di Trevi in Roma, Italy.
