33cl bottle. Yellow color, bubbly white head, good lacing. Acidic nose, as others Ceres. Sourish grains with an initial sweetness then a weir bitterness and alcohol. Medium bodied, metallic finish.

Bottle at home in London, aged just over a year. Pours clear, strong yellow with a frothy, white foam head. Sugary, doughy nose, some cereal and whispers of cardboard. Medium to big sweet flavor, definite alcohol notes, some sugary grains, slight metallic straw bitterness. Full bodied with heavy carbonation. Warming, lightly stinging finish, pleasantly drying, hints of tangy lemon, more cereal, toasted sugar. Once you nip into this guy a bit it’s actually not that bad. It isn’t nearly as cloying as you would expect. This isn’t to say it’s a good beer, however, but rather just drinkable. Aftertaste has some dry bread and light alcohol.

Tasted a bottle in Italy. Strong doughy aroma, rich yellow color, very small whitish foamy head, sweet-hoppy taste, medium carbonation, long finish with alcohol taste lingering on your tastebuds. Too strong taste of alcohol.

May 2011: Every single bar on the Amalfi Coast seemed to have this as their default strong beer, this review is of a 33cl brown bottle drank in the main square of Ravello: labelled as Ceres Strong Ale Export. Mid-pils colour, this strong lager looked OK, the wispy white head reminding me of the typical lager/pilsner covering found all over the world, even though this one had come down from Scandinavia to the Med. Malts over hops in the smell and taste, although the alcohol content was never far from the surface throught the tasting. The beer was fresh (BBD 01 Aug 2012) and had good carbonisation, as you’d expect in this style of beer. Overal: it had too much alcohol for it’s depth of flavours and body feel, the sort of beer that gives you a cracking headache if large amounts were to be consummed.

In a snack bar in Roma as Ceres Strong Ale Export. Pours amber gold with a 2 finger creamy white head. Aromas of grass and nectarine. Med body. Flavor is moderately bready with hints of fruit but mostly grass. Quite clean.

Bottled. Golden colour, small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, alcohol, some slight oxidized sourness as well as some mild strange notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, alcoholic, sweet malty as well as some slight oxidized sourness.

Bottle (as Ceres Strong Ale Export - Italian version) enjoyed at a rest stop driving on way to Switzerland. tastes is light hops, cereal, grain, fruity. light spice not bad road soda in my opinion.
