Cask-conditioned at the Phoenix, York 19/9/2024. Amber in colour, with a slight, white, head. An easy drinking bitter with some marmalade fruitiness, leafy hops and solid maltiness, leading to a moderately bitter finish. A pleasant session bitter.

Cask at the Victoria Inn, Rugby, 04/06/14. Clear dark amber with a well appointed off white head. Nose is orchard fruit, green appleication, straw, light toffee. Taste comprises straw, orchard fruit all over, twiggy rinse, dark fruit mash, hint of toffee. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitterness in the close. Mediocre bitter from the school of twig.

Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 12.09.11 Pours amber with a white head, looks good, despite a very slight haze. Nice temperature to the beer which is the one thing that occasionally undermines the otherwise excellent cellaring of the beers at this pub as they are all too often just a tad warm. Touch earthy, with some bitterness, citrus and a dry finish. Like this despite its quite rustic and earthy credentials. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
