Summer Holiday is a rich, dark beer with a deep red hue from roast barley and pale chocolate malt. Progress, Styrian Goldings and Cascade Hops help to make this a beer with many levels. Well balanced with an underlying maltiness and subtle fruit aroma, this is a beer with great depth of flavour.

Cask at the Market Porter, London on 16th August 2010. Clear red with thin white head. Sweetness of berries in aroma along with herb and spice notes. Slight smokiness in main kick then a sweet aftertaste - caramel/boiled-sweet. Light carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/08/10. As mentioned below, this beer had me thinking of the long nights of winter - it is the least summery summer beer I have ever encountered. Having said that, it was fine. A dark ruddy brown in colour with a decent, off-white head. Sweetish, fruit and cereal aroma, with a chewy malt flavour and moderately bitter finish.

[500ml bottle from Perns of Helmsley] Ruby brown with a negligible creamy head and a slight fizz. Strong malty aroma. Sweet chocolate malt on tasting with some treacle and a little ctrus bitterness in the finish. Quite thick mouthfeel. It’s OK, but I’m bemused as to the link with summer. It’s strong, rich, sweet and a little viscous - surely it’d be better aimed at autumn or winter...?
