On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - close to opaque black but with some red chinks. Nice head. Nose - gentle vanilla but predominantly liquorice and charcoal. Taste - more liquorice and charcoal and then the dark chocolate and vanilla kicks in elegantly at the end. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet somehow dry texture. The finish is dry in a pleasant without being astringent way. Overall - a very subtly spiced porter where the base beer gives a nod to the dry stout style. Enjoyable.

Cask @ Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh 150912
Dark brown ruby, creamy dense rich tan head, good lacing
Aroma - soft roasted malts, light coffee, soft dark malts, touch of vanilla
Taste as aroma with nice vaniila that’s not overpowering, sweet porter, milky vanilla like in ice cream, soft flavours, light coffee, chocolate, very easy drinking, maybe too subtle though
Palate - medium body, smooth nice mouth feel. Sweetish palate. Finish - smooth, mouthcoating, slightly dry, very soft roast , slight hint of coffee.
Overall - Well made smooth soft porter, easy drinking.
