Crisp golden coloured body with a thin white head, about a half centimetre tall. Aroma of grass, wheat, yeast, coriander seed, lemons and quite a bit of spices - very nice and fragrant. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavour with a light floral note and quite a bit more lemons and herbs. Assertive effervescence throughout with a note of alcohol and grass on the finish - still very nice and robust. Overall, a nice saison with a big grassy and herbal character and a smooth, easy-to-drink quality, as well. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Viti Wine & Liquors in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 06-June-2015 for CA$5,50 sampled in my hotel room in the centre city of Vancouver, BC a day later on 07-June-2015.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Kris Wines. Pours clear gold, highly effervescent, with a big, billowing white froth topping. Lots of yeast and esters in the nose, some doughy wheat, lemon peel. Light to medium sweet flavor with further doughy wheat bread, faint bitter hay, some smokey notes, rindy lemon, saison yeast. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Mellow alcohol kick on the finish, with some wheaty sugars, pale bread, dry grain, citrus rind, faint smokey peat notes, banana chips. Interesting stuff. Pretty tasty overall.

Bottle. Nose is spice, yeast, a slight hibiscus note, straw, then sweet dough and yeast. Taste is spice, a dry woody note, rye, medicinal hops, citrus and a lot of coriander and pepper with a slight sour note in the finish. Far too fizzy. It’s a reasonable beer, I guess the dry wood and rye note is meant to denote winter.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Light hazy orange colour, creamy foam. Disappears quickly. Lots of carbonation (too much!). Peppery with light notes of citrus and coriander. Bit watery. Overcarbonated. Not very good.

Bottle. An unclear, golden beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. The aroma is rather sweetish and sugar, fruity, and with some pale malts. Citrus notes. It’s full-bodied, with a nice carbonation. White sugar, pale malts, fruityness and citrus. Nice bitterness. Lasting bitter and fruity finish with a tad too much sweetness. Overall, sure a nice beer, but it’s too much on the sweet side. 150314
