Bottle from het Biermoment, dated Aug 2014, large sample. Dark color, short frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, some dark fruits, slight booze and paint thinner, alcoholic whisky, slight juniper, wood, apple. Bit bitter in taste, bit sweet, boozy, wood. Alcohol, wood and a whisky that dominate way too much are overpowering the base beer. I like most of the Meneer de Uil series, but this one aint the best.

Bottle picked up in Netherlands, September 2014. Consumed at home Friday 31st October 2014. Pours almost black, nose is a strange tobacco, washing up liquid, wet woody mix up, (Loz loves it!) thick in mouth, comes back through the nose. Warming, even a little hot, its a most unusual (due to BA) Impy stout. It’s a little soapy in mouth, Loz says meaty (she’s right again) soft in mouth a little creamy, smokiness now starting to assert itself. Great! (I love exclamation marks!!!!) A7 A4 T8 P5 Ov16 4.0

Keg at BBF 6, 27/09/14. Black with a well appointed tan covering - a solid looking impy but just fails to hit a 5! Nose is dark fruit rinds, marsala wine, charr, spice, earthy cocoa rub. Taste comprises BA sherry tones, spice, light chilli kick, red grape, dark fruits. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with warming alcohol. Decent BA impy, good balance, not too sweet.
