Bottle from Northumberland Gifts. Mahogony with small beige head. Malty aroma with bread crust, nuts, faint prickly hops. Taste is deeply malt driven, light roast, brown bread, nuts, toffee, light leafy hopping. Near medium bodied, smooth, fine carbonation. Reasonable malt flavoured layers but could do with more hops.

Clear amber with a decent beige head. Nutty and malty. Light sweet fruits, touch of nuts and a clean light finish. Much lighter than the nose and appearance leads you to believe.

21/8/2020. Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Poured clear dark amber with a small bubbly/frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, touch of chocolate, charcoal and dried fruit. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Had a toasted bitter earthy finish. Looked really good. Quite drinkable overall.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep chestnut with red chinks. Slightly off white head. Nose - fudge and edge of molasses. Light smoke. Taste - creamy smoke and toffee. Lusciously rich. Palate - creamy and medium bodied despite 4.1%. Balanced sweet and dry on the finish. Overall - lovely beer where the malts do the talking! Great for the ABV.

Bottle from Taste of Northumbria, Alnwick. Pours clear mahogany red-brown with a thin beige head. Toffee and fudge on the nose, bonfire toffee. Taste is toffee, molasses, just enough bitterness to round things out. Really good example of a traditional British ale.
