Bottle at Craig’s. Sweet, caramel and toffee, held up really well! Best before 2007.

Sehr süß-malziger Geruch, etwas getreidig. Süßer Antrunk, deutlich herb, aromatisch klebrig-malzig. Leicht nach Soja-Sauce, malzig-würzig, sehr süß, fast schon übertrieben. DIes sorgt leider für eine Unterdrückung anderer Aromen. Im Abgang etwas herb, mild würzig-malzig, weiter stark süß. Nett. Test vom 29.9.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,10,10,10,9,10 - 9,75

Bottle at home ... Thanks to Fin for this ... drunk 08/2007 nice red tinges brown ale ... slightly lambic tart fruity hop ... Nice balance. very mellow ... I dont know the age of this bottle but this has the mellowness of an aged ale ... very deep fruity cherry ... lots of sweet toffee ... great character... looking at Fins rating prob BBE DEC 06 so nealy a year past stated date... I recon a beer mails in order to see if Fins got anymore :-) Bottle at home bbf 2006 drunk 04/14 ... deep brown ... thin tan lacing ... deep brown ... smalll white head ... soft fruits ... soft toffee ... lightest cardboard nose ... soft fruits ... ligth open fruit ... light juicy malts ... softest cardboard but the lighest ... big berry fruit ... juicy malts ... soft fruits ,3.9

(Bottle 27,5 cl) Pours a warm, clear, reddish amber golden with a small, off-white head. Complex, vinous, sherry-like aroma. Full-bodied, notes of overripe fruit, sherry and wood - salty even, but the sweetness lingers. The finish is dry. 310807

Hazy reddish amber color; creamy head. Sweet caramel aroma, not persistent. Thick body, sweet, malty, with a woody and raisin touch that was already announced by the aroma. Not very bitter, but at the very end the palate is more balanced. Somehow a juice.

Bottle from the Dodgy Deli’, Cowley Rd, Oxford 16-6-07. Pours brown with a definate red hue, nose was very port like and rich. Taste was a real assault on the taste buds, alcohol very present but a real burnt sugar, bonfire toffeenes to this, maybe a little bit crude but certainly becomes more and more complex with great bitterness. Ok so the BB date was Dec 06 I think but at 75 pence a bottle this was worth scooping up half the shelf.

Dark brown with a small off-white head. Rich aroma with port, wood, malt, grain, and hay. Sweet flavour with port alcohol notes, warming. Really excellent beer.

A deep amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruits, as well as berries like strawberries and cherries. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit and berries, as well as lighter notes of alcohol. The end is dry and OK bitter with a touch of wood. The mouthfeel is smooth.

Bottle. Clear dark chestnut colour. Very malty aroma, a bit dusty. Sweet raisin flavour, very malty, sweet and dusty. The bitterness is a bit rough. Low carbonation. Very nice, but one bottle is more than enough.
