Bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Notes of bourbon, milk chocolate and alcohol in aroma. Taste is not as sweet. Strange grainy bitterness with heavy notes of alcohol. Not in balance.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Black with rich beige head. Aroma of salty licorice. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Mostly salmiak flavour, rather fierce peppery alcohol in a finish with some resiny bitterness. Dominated by salmiak and alcohol. Below average imperial stout, even for those produced at de Proef.

Bottle from Bierkompass. Bbe 11/12/22. Pitch black, thin brown head. Honey, wood, licorice, bourbon and dark bready aroma, lovely. Full bodied, smooth, high drinkability. Alcohol completely hidden. Licorice, dark chocolate, wood and vanilla flavor. Honey sweetness at first, as it gets warmer dark roasted notes. Long warming finish with bourbon notes. Great beer, but the bourbon barrel might have added too much to the flavors, as it is overwhelming in the finish.

37.5cl bottle shared by Joes. Opaque pitch black color, small brown head. Smell malts, lightly earth, wet leaves, bourbon and slightly honey coming through, though I don’t think I would have noticed if it hadn’t been on the label. Taste malts, bourbon, lightly roastyness, lightly alcohol. Nice aftertaste of roasty bitters. Medium carbonation, medium to full body.

Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget, February 2013. Black with a small tan head. The aroma was unexpectedly weak with roasted malt, wood, alcohol and some medicine. The taste was a bit better with bourbon, wood, roasted malt and vanilla. Unfortunately also with notes of medicine. Not as tasty as expected, still an ok beer.
