Cake Rush is the third release of our Barrel Project Series. This Imperial Breakfast stout features an infusion of toasted coconut, locally roasted cold brew coffee, and Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans. We took a blend of three different Tioga-Sequoia specialties and aged them in Woodford Reserve and High West whiskey barrels for 8-16 months. Look for flavors of fresh roasted coffee and toasted coconut with creamy notes of vanilla, oak, and chocolate. This beer truly embodies the taste of a German Chocolate cake aged in American Whiskey Barrels.

Bottle at share. Dark, dark brown pour, thin beige head, light lacing. Coffee features prominently in the aroma, then coconut, some chocolate and bourbon. Taste is bitter and sweet, coffee and coconut, chocolate and vanilla all wrapped up in some boozy warmth.

Bottle at home. Very dark mahogany pour with a tan head that gives way to a thin lacing. Notes of roasted coffee, brewed coffee, toasted coconut, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, maple syrup. Very complex taste notes, pretty balanced and with a great post-taste. Quite the surprise! --- Beer merged from original tick of Cake Rush on 06 May 2017 at 18:55 - Score: 9. Original review text: Delicious! Quality bourbon, tons of coffee, vanilla and toasted coconut. Good stuff.
