Raspberry and roast. See dark chocolate. Black pour with good initial head. Oily consistency. Bitter and tangy end. Tap at Capital Ale House.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2018, hosted by Beerlovers Bar, Antwerp. Opaque black color, average sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, red fruit, bourbon. Taste malts, bourbon, red fruit, chocolate, somewhat bitter. I dislike the -somewhat firm- carbonation, but otherwise this is a great exemple of a stout with red fruit.

750ml bottle pours an inky black with lots of frothy, lacing tan head. Nose has quite a bit of berry, jammy in a way, toast, chocolate caramel. The barrel comes through more in the flavor, still plenty of malt and raspberry jam, molasses, toast, light coffee, vanilla too, caramel, some shaved coconut as well. Smooth finish and an easy drinker at 12.4%.

C&C 750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Dark brown, large foamy brown head, good retention. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, wood, raspberry, chocolate, roasted malt. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, raspberry, vanilla, bourbon, wood. Medium bodied, low carbonation, mild lingering roast, well balanced. I feel a little guilty hogging this one all to myself, but it’s been a pretty bad day. :)
