Here in Colorado we are blessed with abundant natural beauty.
Smokejumpers are those fearless wildland firefighters who specialize in parachuting into the wilderness so that we can continue to enjoy it. Smokejumper Imperial Porter is a tribute to them - a twenty-one degree plato porter made with barley malt hand- smoked by our brewers. Roasty brown in color, the long lingering smokiness wraps around flavors of molasses, toasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. Here’s to smoke in your glass, not in the woods. Smokejumper is the official beer of The National Smokejumper Association.

Bottle Compliments of beersiveknown; Cheers Steve for bringing this along to our tasting night, I’ve shied away from smoked beers in the past. I was convinced I wouldn’t like them, but this is a delight. Poured almost black with a beige head, this diminished quickly. Bonfire night aroma, first taste you get smoke which mellows into a coffee and chocolate enriched stout. Great mouth feel, just the right level of carbonation slipped down a dream. Will seek out again!

Dark brown to black beer, big frothy biege head, stable, adhesive. Aroma: smoky, yes sir! meaty, some chloride, caramel, wood, charcoal, some overripe banana. MF: good carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little sourish, caramel, fudge, chocolate, lots of roasted flavours, smoky but pretty balanced. Aftertaste: bitter hops, little sour, roasted, soft smoky.

22 ounce bottle. Opague black brown color. Thick bubbly tan head. Aroma of smoked roasted malt and cocoa. Rich smoked malt flavor upfront. Hints of dark chocolate, mollasses, dark fruit and resiny hops. Bittersweet complex chewy malt flavor throughout. Nicely finishes with a lingering hoppiness. I enjoyed this a lot.

Bottle, 22oz, at TFODRBSG 2012. A dark brown beer topped by a small, dense beige head. A light but pleasant smoke scent blends with roasted malts and coffee. A touch of chocolate, dark dried fruits and alcohol too. Full-bodied, dryish and warming on the palate. Roasted malts, smoke, chocolate and some coffee in the flavor. Lasting smoked and roasted finish. A pleasant one indeed, but not my favorite smoked beer. 120818

Bomber pour into tulip. Paired beautifully with my wife’s excellent meat loaf. Very smoky aroma. Strong smoky, meaty taste with slight bitter chocolate.

22oz bomber pours a dark mahogany with a nice looking 3 minute light colored mocha head. The aroma has some brown sugar covered plums, a dab of molasses and then some smooth smokiness thinly ringed with bacon. The taste is pretty rich with molasses covered roasted malts, plums and ripe red apples and then running into a formidable smokiness. The smoke attempts to hide faint chocolate notes but fails. Into the finish the roasted malts turn more burnt. Nice rich sipper of a smoke beer. It could use a bit more smoke to stand up to the richness and dark fruity esters to dark roasted malt notes.
