Here in Colorado we are blessed with abundant natural beauty.
Smokejumpers are those fearless wildland firefighters who specialize in parachuting into the wilderness so that we can continue to enjoy it. Smokejumper Imperial Porter is a tribute to them - a twenty-one degree plato porter made with barley malt hand- smoked by our brewers. Roasty brown in color, the long lingering smokiness wraps around flavors of molasses, toasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. Here’s to smoke in your glass, not in the woods. Smokejumper is the official beer of The National Smokejumper Association.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Pours black with large dark brown highlights, small light brown head, and little lacing. Medium/thick body, well carbonated, and smokey/roasted aroma. Taste is roasted malt, some smoke, and some herbal hops. More like an imperial porter with a little smoke, expected more smoke.

650ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head that leaves a thin layer. Smokey aroma reminds of BBQ, sweet marinade, roast, spices, ashes; underlying notes of molasses. Taste is initially dry, smokey, notes of roast, ashes, bitter hoppy overtones, almost without any sweetness, surprisingly light and concentrated; later, with the smoke flavours evaporating, a wider roasty dark malty basis gains ground. Liquid bonfire if not forest fire.

65 cl bottle @ olio, bottled 07.02.2012
Aroma is sweetish with smoked wood, some ash and tobacco. Flavour is somewhat sweet with smoke, woody notes, tobacco and licorice. Peaty finish with salty licorice. Becomes a bit sticky towards the end of the glass. Some hoppy notes in the finish. Nice, but I find Alaskan Smoked Porter still better.

Bottle. Dark brown with a large tan head. The description on the side of the bottle sums it up pretty succinctly. Smoky, sweet molasses, a long lingering smoky palate.
