Here in Colorado we are blessed with abundant natural beauty.
Smokejumpers are those fearless wildland firefighters who specialize in parachuting into the wilderness so that we can continue to enjoy it. Smokejumper Imperial Porter is a tribute to them - a twenty-one degree plato porter made with barley malt hand- smoked by our brewers. Roasty brown in color, the long lingering smokiness wraps around flavors of molasses, toasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. Here’s to smoke in your glass, not in the woods. Smokejumper is the official beer of The National Smokejumper Association.

Small brown head. Opaque black body. Earthy herbal licorice aroma with smoky notes. Dry-sweet roasty licorice and chocolate taste with smoky notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft mouthfeel with slight heat at the end. Dryish roasty earthy chocolate aftertaste with minty juniper notes. Nice, mellow, full-flavoured, harmonic. I really liked this one. You’d think a smoked juniper porter would taste like a Norwegian farmhouse ale, but somehow it doesn’t. Not sure why. (0.65l bottle, from ..., not sure, but I think Copenhagen.)

Botled On: 02.07.2012.

650 ml bottle, shared by Ole Anders. Black colour, moderate to low beige head. Strong aroma of smoked meat and Østbye’s ski wax (pre-WW II). Plenty of smoke in the flavour too, accompanied by moderate roasty notes. Too much smoke for my taste.

Godt i små slurker, men denne stilen blir ingen favoritt hos meg.

Draft x2 at Alchemy. Opaque brown-black, lacy beige head. Wow. Bigtime chocolate smoke flavors. Burnt bacon, coffee. Lingering burnt smokey aftertaste, some mild alcohol warmth. Hardcore, for the true rauchstars. Sweet, intensely sugary, yet has some classic porter characteristics too. Completely delicious, expert execution.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with tan head. Roasty aroma of malt and caramel. Ditto taste, enhanced by slight fruity notes. Pleasant dry aftertaste. Very, very nice.
