33cl Fles van Spar Vebenabos. Rechtstreeks uit de fles op het strand. Bloemig, licht fruitig, citrusschil, verbena, hint van plastic van de gist, gelukkig niet storend, hint van caramel, mout, bittere finish. Droog, lichte body. Prima bier.

Flesje gekocht tijdens vakantie. Goudgeel helder bier met kleine vlokjes. De witte schuimkraag trekt snel weg tot er film overblijft. Aroma is moutig, gistachtig en hoppig. De smaak is zacht, moutig, grassig en iets hoppig. Nasmaak is iets bitter.

Hazy pale golden, good fizzy white head, dissipating quickly, patchy lacing. Aroma pale malt, grain, lemon, light coriander, ocamomile. Taste light to medium sweet and medium bitter, malty, grain, lemon, orange peel, spicy and mineral notes. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation, dry sweetbitter aftertaste, orange pith, spicy and mineral notes, simple and no-nonsense blond beer, nice.

Blonde beer from Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, the most 'Flemish' part of the Netherlands; bottle from the Gall & Gall in Hulst. Medium thick, moussy, eggshell-white, slowly dissipating and 'fragmentarily' opening, shred-lacing head over lightly hazy, warm orange golden beer with peachy hue and disparate little bubbles of carbon dioxide here and there; warm glowing misty orange with sediment. Aroma of dried apricot, dried camomile, dried wormwood leaves, moist white pepper, peach, bitter honey, breakfast cereals, freshly cut garden herbs, bread crust, something vaguely iron-like. Fruity, crisp onset, red apple and unripe banana, clean, sweetish but subduedly so, medium carb with light minerally touches, slick pale malt sweetishness, cereally with bread crust sides and a vague caramelly accent but before it can turn into full-fledged malt sweetness, hops are there to save the day and provide a long-stretched, spicy, 'dusty', leafy bitterness, noble in nature and drying, with a quinine-like effect in the end. Belgian style, 'summery' blonde from a - to me hitherto unknown - Dutch contract brewer but effectively brewed in Belgium apparently, this beats a lot of similarly profiled beers by adding more hop bitterness which eventually even dries the finish in an old school noble, pleasantly spicy way; much better than expected really, if still simple and straightforward. One I could drink all afternoon in an outdoors café in or outside of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.

Bottle @ home. Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly yeast, nicely bitter. A bit hard to describe but quite a decent blonde beer. Not bad at all.

Lichtgeel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig en licht zoet met iets van thee, ananas en abrikoos.

20/VII/14 - 33cl bottle from some local market in Zeeuw-Vlaanderen @ home - BB: 31/III/16 (2014-827) Thanks to Mattie for the bottle!

Little cloudy blond beer, big fizzy off-white head, unstable, dissipates immediately, non adhesive. Aroma: some citrus, bit sourish, fruity, malts, some banana, sugary. MF: lots of carbon, medium to light body. Taste: pretty bitter, very yeasty flavour, bit sourish, unpleasant. Aftertaste: sourish, infected, banana, unpleasant, yuck. I have to admit the cap made a weird sound upon opening and was smelly. Maybe something went wrong while bottling or it got half opened during transport?
