Dubbele Tongval

Bottle @ tasting shared byTomHendriksen and Inoven. Nice dark red to red-brown color, average sized beige head. Aroma is malts, raisins, anise or some other herb / spice, but I can't put my finger on it. Flavor has it too, malts, a bit herbal / spicy, slightly raisins, sweetish. Decent body and carbonation. Meh.

Bottle shared by Craftmember, new Dutch micro apparently brewing in Belgium. Very thick, rocky, off-white head with papery lacing, deep coppery brown colour, initially clear but hazy with deposit. Aroma of grass, some FFF (freshly fermented farmland), dried red berries, caramel, hazelnuts, garden weeds, bitter honey, quite ’natural’ iron, hint of cocoa. Dried fruit sweetishness in onset, redcurrant sourishness but restrainedly so, medium carbo, dryish nutty and sweetish caramelly malts, herbal, leafy and lightly peppery hoppy finish, more bitterish than in the well-known industrial examples of the style. Decent dubbel, slightly above average for the style in terms of hoppiness, but otherwise not too remarkable either.

Bottle picked up from Deen Supermarket, Landsmeer, Consumed at home, Sunday 12th October 2015. Soft in the mouth, subtle flavours, a little soft nut, actually a very light praline edge, a light very milky cappuccino doused with chocolate. This is a good uncomplicated Dubbel, I quite like what this brewery are putting out, simple but very drinkable. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

33cl Bottle from Deen. Murky dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, husks, light spicy, brown sugar, some dark fruits. Flavour follows, it’s a bit lighter than expected, a little over-carbonated, but well-made Dubbel. Nice.
