Bottle @ home. Opaque dark brown to black color, medium to full sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, a hint of liquorice, some herbs or spices, cardamom maybe? A bit herbal sweet, light to moderately bitter. Decent body, decent to medium carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle shared at the DC Local tasting. Pours a translucent, nearly opaque brown with a creamy, ringing white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, root vegetables, a little floral. Flavor is sweet, caramel, milk chocolate, root vegetables, some candy sugar. Some light spice. Sweet, sticky and a little astringent on the finish. Doesn’t have that extra dimension. Makes you wonder, where are the hops?

Bottle from Wine Specialist. Very carbonated. Gushed slowly. Probably live yeast. Translucent dark brown with a huge tan head. Leaves lots of lace. Aromas mostly of darkish fruit - like raisin. Medium body with significant carbonation. Flavor is caramel and raisin with some spice bits. Finishes somewhere between sweet and dry. Not so Gruytie as other Gruyts I’ve had! It heads more towards sweet with the passage of time. Unique.

750 mL bottle from Market Street Wineshop. What an oddly shaped bottle. Pours a hazy chestnut brown with a large head, moderate retention and not so great lacing. Aroma of apples, berries and caramel. Taste is nutty with big spicy notes... nutmeg, anise, others. Some caramel and fruit notes as well. Medium bodied. Interesting.
