The Aztecs were famous for chocolate, chillies, vanilla and human sacrifice*. Ireland: famous for stout. We decided to combine the two.

We introduced smoky chipotle chillies, from Lily at MyMexicanShop.ie, cocoa nibs, vanilla pods and a touch of cinnamon to a traditional Irish stout. A healthy amount of oatmeal provides for a smooth silky finish and a touch of cinnamon perfects the brew. The result is a rich warming dark ale to savour. Salud!

Bottle shared by Beersiveknown @ tasting at his place. Huge thanks Steve! Brown to black color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, a bit alcoholic, boozy, plant like, peppery. Too hot spicy peppery for me.

12oz bottle from Malloy’s. Pours an oily black into the tulip glass. Thin tan head that dissipated very quickly, almost no lacing on the glass. Weaker aroma than I was expecting, traditional notes though, roasted coffee, some chocolate, some dark fruit. Mouthfeel is surprisingly thin and watery, was expecting something with more body. Taste is traditional stout, roasted coffee, chocolate, some vanilla smoothness, chili burn. Finish is equally thin, leaves an annoying chili burn on the back of the throat. Interesting but missing the mark.
